After winning fourteen awards at the MY HERO International Film Festival last year, the students of Emagination Island were asked to produce a 30-minute documentary designed to empower kids around the world, including Title 1 and foster youth, to tell unsung hero stories through film, which teaches kids to celebrate goodness in the world and embark upon their own heroic quests.

We were also invited to contribute downloadable tip sheets featured on MY HERO’s website, which has 48M views per year, and to the MY HERO Journalism & Filmmaking Workbook by Esther Wojcicki, a 180-page educational guide commissioned by the co-founder of Google Classroom. Used in classrooms and after-school programs across the U.S., this resource helps young kids everywhere to gain the skills required to tell stories that matter.

Fueling the Future of Storytelling

MY HERO received a $500,000 grant from the Scripps Family Foundation to support its Film Festival, educational workbook, and documentary projects. By creating this film, we’re helping show the foundation that their investment is making a real impact and ensuring MY HERO can continue empowering young storytellers worldwide. These resources are already implemented here:
Our films, tips, and workbooks are impacting lives across the globe, helping students learn, create, and lead.
